On January 30, 2026, Ron Naclerio became the winningest coach in NY history with his 973rd victory, surpassing Jack Curran of Archbishop Molloy. Ron has coached at Benjamin Cardozo for 51 years, 44 as their head coach. His teams have won 20+ games in a season 32 times, a NY state record. At one point they won 20+ games 24 years in a row, also a state record. Ron, who attended Cardozo, was an All-City baseball player as well as an All-Queens basketball player. He later attended St, John’s University, played basketball and baseball, and led the nation in stolen bases in 1979. After college, he spent three seasons in the Chicago White Sox minor league system.
