KIPP Capital made their first season one to remember by winning the Class B section title and advancing to the NYSPHSAA semi-finals. Amsterdam won their first sectional championship since 1995.
Once again Section 2 showed their might by advancing 5 of their 6 class champions to the final 4 with four making the semi-finals and Albany CBA winning the Class AAA Title with a perfect 25-0 record.
In the 2024 NYSPHSAA State Championships, Section 2 teams took an unprecedented 4 titles in the 6 classifications. Green Tech (AAA), Glens Falls (A), Stillwater (B), and North Warren (D) took home the hardware. In 2025, they followed that feat by advancing to four finals, winning three of them.
Section 2 teams have now won 27 State titles with Lake George leading the way with 3 championships, their last being in 2018. Three teams reached the final in 2022 with Ichabod Crane taking home their 1st title.
Joseph Girard III of Glens Falls, N.Y. State's all-time career leading scorer with 4,763 points, averaged 50.0 points per game in 2017-18. He came close to the all-time high school record of 54.0 ppg set by Bobbie Joe Douglas of Marion, LA in 1980.
